The Pastoral Council of Corpus Christi (Newcastle), St. Anthony’s (Upton); and St. Paul’s (Sundance) will consist of three lay representatives per parish and the clergy of the parishes. The secretary on staff at Corpus Christi will serve as secretary of the council and will not be a voting member. Each parish will have two representatives elected by the baptized and confirmed parishioners, and one representative appointed by the pastor. Parish council representatives serve three-year terms. Each parish will have staggered terms, so that each parish will have someone in their first year of a term, someone in their second year, and someone in their third year. The terms will be staggered so that each year, the pastor will have the opportunity to appoint one person at one parish, while the other two parishes will elect a new member. This will rotate each year. If a vacancy occurs in any position, elected or appointed, the pastor will appoint someone to fill the remainder of the term, or he may choose to leave the position unfilled if an election is soon.
To begin the new Pastoral Council in autumn of 2019, the positions and length of terms will be as follows:
Corpus Christi: 3 year term elected; 2 year term elected; 1 year term appointed. St. Paul’s: 3 year term elected; 2 year term appointed; 1 year term elected. St. Anthony’s: 3 year term appointed; 2 year term elected; 1 year term elected
There will be two weekends for nominations: August 24th and 25th; and August 31st and September 1st. Voting will take place on September 14th and 15th.
